Women's Resource Center History

In 2009, a major milestone was achieved with the hiring of the first professional Program Director for the University of Arizona Women’s Resource Center (WRC).  Over forty years in the making, this milestone is a testament to the collective effort of dedicated students and campus allies who have given countless hours to promote gender equity and securing initial funding for hiring a professional director.

The creation of a professionally staffed women’s resource center puts the University of Arizona closer in-line with both its peer institutions and over 170 other institutions of higher education that have professionally staffed women’s resource centers to serve women and allied students.

The University of Arizona is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution. The University prohibits discrimination in its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or gender identity and is committed to maintaining an environment free from sexual harassment and retaliation.
