Through generating creative works, most notably the Vagina Monologues, AR works with supportive organizations in the greater Tucson area. "And we must become disrupters... valuing life over comfort." Girl Up is a UA club and chapter of the initiative, Girl Up, created by the United Nations. We believe in the power of a girl to change the world once given the right tools and resources. 63 million girls across the globe are not able to get an education because of oppression, violence and a lack of resources. Our mission as a club is to raise awareness about these issues and take action against them. We have presentations and discussions on a variety of social issues and raise money through community fundraisers for the UN's initiative so that they may provide girls around the world with access to education, health, and safety. In order to help our own community as well, we run a monthly donation drive called Tucson Sisterhood of the Traveling Pads to collect donations of feminine hygiene products for refugee women and girls in Tucson. We believe that when girls stand up for girls in need, they empower each other and transform our world.
